Living Graves
By George Bernard Shaw
(1856-1950)
We are the living graves of murdered beasts,
Slaughtered to satisfy our appetites.
We never pause to wonder at our feasts,
If animals, like men, can possibly have rights.
We pray on Sundays that we may have light,
To guide our footsteps on the path we tread.
We’re sick of War, we do not want to fight –
The thought of it now fills our hearts with dread,
And yet – we gorge ourselves upon the dead.
Like carrion crows, we live and feed on meat,
Regardless of the suffering and pain
We cause by doing so, if thus we treat
Defenseless animals for sport or gain,
How can we hope in this world to attain
The PEACE we say we are so anxious for.
We pray for it, o’er hecatombs of slain,
To God, while outraging the moral law.
Thus cruelty begets its offspring – WAR

The woods were made for the hunters of dreams,
The brooks for the fishers of song;

To the hunters who hunt for the gunless game
The streams and the woods belong.
~Sam Walter Foss
As long as we continue to tell ourselves we must hunt to eat, we must hunt to prevent starvation of the deer, we must hunt because our fathers hunted, we must hunt because we're sportsmen, we must hunt because we are conservationists, we will never be able to come to terms with that fact that we are all cut from the same cloth; we are all one. When we hurt an animal, it hurts and degrades us. Somewhere in our souls we lose respect for ourselves and everyone's quality of life dissipates just a little bit more.........
If you are a die-hard hunter, these statistics from the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service will probably make you smile. For most of us; however, we feel as though you have stolen our right to enjoy nature in all it's glory, not to mention the horrific cruelty you have bestowed on these beautiful, innocent, docile creatures of the earth.

During the hunting season 2002-2003, 6.4 million deer were killed by hunters.

Interestingly, that is only a drop in the bucket compared to the 115 million animals of all species killed during the same season. Can you imagine-115 million beautiful, sentient beings wiped from the face of the earth all because of testosterone-choked hunters craving to kill something just because they can?

Can anyone imagine what a wonderful world this would be with all that wildlife to enjoy -- ALIVE?

When we kill an animal, we have to ask ourselves if the rush we got from killing was worth depriving that beautiful animal of it's one and only life. We must ask ourselves how we would feel if someone took our only life, or our child's one and only life. Why is it that we can take the life of an animal and feel nothing and care not that we have taken something so precious from it? It's time we ask ourselves these questions. It's time we seriously reflect on the damage we are perpetrating on almost every species on earth.
The Earth In All It's Glory..........
.....And It's Destruction By Hunters.................
The above photos are from a popular hunting site. They are typical of the environmental degradation hunters leave behind.  With no regard for the animals or the environment, they leave garbage, debris and filth for the animals to wallow in and for someone else to clean up - if it ever gets cleaned up. But hey, after Governor Heineman signed to end the ban of alcohol in State Parks we can look forward to even more filth and debris.

"God has given us a world that nothing but our own folly keeps from being a paradise."

Killers in he making? Could their parent's time  be better spent teaching the children to love and respect animals and thereby their fellow man?
After the ruthless and senseless act of murder, this hunter chose to denegrate the deer and himself even further.
Do these photos give you an idea of the mentality of person who can perpetrate such sadistic acts on a sentient being?.
