Real Men don't hunt
Our planet is under siege as a result of human ignorance and greed. Our innocent, docile, unoffending animals who have absolutely nothing to do with the degradation of our planet are the ones paying for our mistakes. Not only that but the animals are paying in ways that are perfectly legal! Greed and indifference has replaced morals and ethics. We've taught ourselves how to sit in church on Sunday and pretend we're doing nothing wrong. We close our eyes to the suffering all around us. Our planet cannot heal and become whole again until we rein in our thirst for more.
On September 29th 2010, Jeff Fortenberry, Congressman from Nebraska, co-sponsored and introduced legislative bill H.R. 5566, the Prevention of Interstate Commerce in Animal Crush Videos Act of 2010. This measure would prohibit the sales of Animal Cruelty Videos depicting animal cruelty such as these "crush videos." It has been reffered to the Senate for further action.
We make this choice on a daily basis, yet somehow manage to block out the fact there is no difference between one animal and another.

President Barack Obama has signed a law that specifically bans so-called "crush videos" -- depictions of small animals being tortured to death by humans. The legislation came in response to a Supreme Court ruling this year striking down a broader congressional law dealing with animal cruelty.
The Animal Crush Video Prohibition Act criminalizes the creation, sale, and marketing of these specific kinds of videos, which lawmakers had labeled as "obscene." Penalties of up to seven years in prison would be possible.
"Animal rights, manure odors, and lousy market prices have given pork producers their share of aggravation. Now I'm about to suggest that another issue is waiting to erupt for every livestock producer--dead animals. We generate a lot of them, and I suspect that sooner or later someone is going to figure that out. The first question will be, "What does the industry do with all of those carcasses?" Our answer, if we're honest, it may not give us high marks.--

We have two choices. Either change our ways now or suffer the consequences later.
Our problems are huge and few seem to be aware of the graveness of the situation. Not only are we disrespecting those we share the Earth with and wantonly killing animals because we somehow thinik it's natural, we're heating the Earth and destroying its ecosystems so fast that we're killing off life as we know it. The fragile world around us, from rainforest canopies to marine life in our oceans, is the life support system we all depend on – for food, for shelter, for clean air. But we're trashing it, quickly, many habitats at a time, and putting ourselves in grave danger within our lifetimes. Most of these things are legal in the eyes of the law. But just because something is legal doesn't make it right. In essense, our ship is sinking and those at the helm are not doing enough to keep us afloat. It is imperative we demand change immediately.
