Family pet or Factory Farmed?

We continue to conceal the hypocrisy present in this country demonstrated by the differentiation of one cruel act towards animals from another when no difference exists. How is it we have been allowed to get by with this in a supposedly "civilized world?" Isn't it time we put the pressure on our lawmakers and made them do the right thing?
